The first season of “The Last of Us” has been a big hit.

The first season of HBO’s “The Last of Us” has been a huge success, drawing in many viewers each week. Based on the 2013 video game of the same name, this series follows the tale of a fungal infection that transforms humans into zombie-like creatures.

Fans of the original video game have been eager. To see how it would translate onto television, and after four episodes they’re pleased. While largely sticking with its core storyline, the show takes some interesting risks.

One notable absence in the TV adaptation is Henry and Sam, two of the key characters from the game. Instead, they’re locals of Kansas City whom Ellie and Joel encounter. While searching for a way out of their disease-ridden region.

Furthermore, the way the virus spreads has been subtly altered. Instead of floating spores through the air, there are tendrils propelled out by an infected person to infect others. This clever move serves to underscore their vulnerability and makes the threat much more tangible.

The second season of “The Last of Us” has been a big hit.

HBO has recently renewed the popular apocalyptic drama The Last of Us for another season. Starring Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey, this series adapts the events from 2013’s The Last of Us video game and boasts 97 percent positive reviews on Rotten Tomatoes; it was watched by 22 million viewers domestically during its initial week on air.

In The Last of Us, Joel (Pedro Pascal) and Ellie (Bella Ramsey) meet a pair of brothers living in a quarantine zone who share their fate. However, instead of meeting them in Pittsburgh where they both hail from, Joel and Ellie meet Henry and Sam who are natives of Kansas City.

The third season of “The Last of Us” has been a big hit.

Naughty Dog and Sony Interactive Entertainment have collaborated to tell an captivating, engaging story set in a post-apocalyptic world devastated by mutant cordyceps.

The show also brings back actors from the games, like Troy Baker as Joel, making it feel closer to its source material than other television adaptations of major games. But as with any adaptation, there are things that need fine-tuning here and there.

For instance, a classic campfire scene between Joel and Ellie in the video game wasn’t used – Druckmann and Mazin bring it to life. It may be sentimental, yes, but it’s an important moment for Ellie and Joel.
